With 30 years experience in children’s literature, Krista has a unique overview of books and writing for children. She is an entertaining, flexible, informative and professional speaker for all age groups from lower primary students to teacher and parent groups, adjusting her presentation to suit the audience, from large groups such as MEET-THE-AUTHOR sessions, to intimate writers’ workshops for children or adults.

  • How to find inspiration in your own ‘backyard’ – writing ‘FIBTION‘ based on your own experiences, mixed creatively with a serious dollop of imagination!
  • The writing process as it really is for the author – from inspiration to publication. How long does it really take to write a book? Does the author really draft and edit?
  • Where do authors get their ideas? Krista’s demonstrates with her photo diary and recounts her world travels that have inspired her recent work!
  • Writing books boys will actually read – and enjoy.

A typical school talk concentrates on the craft of writing using specific examples from Krista’s recent books, supported by Krista’s photos of things that inspired each book. The books will be chosen to suit the particular age group of your students, with time for a question and answer session involving both children and teachers.

Here’s a U Tube video of Krista talking at Assembly at Yarrawonga College P-12 on the primary campus in early 2015, having worked with all the students from P-6 over a 6-day Writer-in-Residency:
